As kids, we’ve always been told that if you’re nice to people, people will be nice to you and as we grew up we've realised that the latter wasn’t always a guarantee tho.
But why would you still then? In a world that feels so divided and where the idea of being kind can be considered as weak?
We’ll give you our take on it, as we believe that it’s important to understand the deeper impact of the energy we bring out to the world and how it eventually always comes back to us.
Why Kindness Matters, No Matter What
The act of kindness doesn’t require reciprocity. It’s about creating a world (your own firstly) that’s based on empathy and compassion which with time, if everyone applied this, would heal our whole world.
“Heaaaaaal the world, make it a better place, for youuuu and for meeeee and the entire human raaaaace.” – MJ.
You’re showing people that there is another way to interact which is just based on good energy and love rather than fear and hostility.
Do It For You First
“'Cause the words that come from your mouth
You're the first to hear” – India Arie
Choosing to spread love in situations of adversity is a sign of true strength. It takes courage to be kind when what’s around you isn’t. This builds inner resilience. The more you practice this regularly, the stronger sense of self and a more positive outlook on life you’ll have. Nothing will be able to really reach you.
Everything that is send to you with negative energy will just go above your head. This “aura” that you’ll create for yourself could also become a source of inspiration for others to embrace kindness.
The Ripple Effect of Kindness
This is an investment that always pays off. You just might not see the results immediately but that doesn’t mean nothing happened. Each small or big act of kindness creates a ripple effect, touching lives in ways you may never even realise. A small compliment like “I like your glasses” can make a person's whole day.
They might go on and perform their own act of kindness the same day, continuing the chain reaction which mind end up coming to you again.
Nothing is stronger than kindness
True strength lies in the ability to be compassionate, even when it’s easier to become indifferent or hostile. Embracing kindness as a strength rather than a vulnerability allows us to break down the fear and mistrust that divides us. But that still doesn’t mean you shouldn’t let people walk all over you.
There is also a beauty in letting people pass you by if the energy just doesn’t match what you are on.
Conclusion
The energy you give out, is the energy you have within. The better you'll make people feel without wanting something in return, the better you'll feel because you did something good out of the goodness of your heart.
Be for others what you would want them to be for you.
