Figuring out your purpose in life can feel like trying to solve a puzzle with half the pieces missing. And honestly, we’re still figuring it out too.

Life feels like a mix of excitement, pressure, and the occasional “What am I even doing?” moment. But here’s the thing: your purpose isn’t some grand, elusive thing you have to chase. It’s already within you, waiting to be uncovered. And trust us, the journey to finding it can be just as rewarding as the destination.

Start by getting curious about yourself. What makes you light up? What could you talk about for hours without getting bored? For me, it was writing—I could lose myself in words for days. But it took some trial and error (and a few cringe-worthy poetry phases) to figure that out. Grab a journal, sit somewhere quiet, and ask yourself: What would I do if no one was watching? If money didn’t matter? If failure wasn’t a thing? Your answers might surprise you.

Next, think about your values. What really matters to you? Is it creativity, connection, freedom, or making a difference? For a long time, I thought my purpose had to be something huge, like saving the world. But then I realised it’s the small things—like making people feel seen through my writing—that light me up. Your purpose doesn’t have to be earth-shattering; it just has to feel true to you.

Surround yourself with people who inspire you. I can’t stress this enough. The people you spend time with shape your mindset and your motivation. Find your tribe, whether it’s a mentor, a friend who pushes you, or an online community that shares your passions. When you’re around people who are chasing their dreams, it’s easier to chase yours.

And here’s the hard but important part: take action, even when it’s scary. Purpose isn’t something you find by sitting on the sidelines. It’s something you create by showing up, even when you’re unsure. Start small: send that email, apply for that opportunity, or share your work with the world. Every step forward is a step closer to your purpose.

Finally, give yourself grace. Your purpose might change over time, and that’s okay. Your journey is yours alone, and it’s allowed to be messy, uncertain, and beautiful all at once.

So, take a deep breath and start where you are. Your purpose isn’t some far-off thing, it’s in the things that make you feel alive, the values that guide you, and the steps you take every day to create a life you love.

You’ve got this.

We wrote Everybody Dies, But Not Everybody Lives I for the people who know there's more to life but feel stuck trying to find it. It will make you think, reflect, but most importantly take action.

Because at the end of the day, we all come and go.

But while we’re here? We might as well live the way we want.
